Complements for Steak

No, I don’t mean, “Hello, steak, you’re looking delicious today.” That’s a compliment.

Complements for Steak

I mean things that complement a steak – like a luscious steak butter melting on top or a mushroom garnish.

One of my favorite things to do is grill up a bunch of filet mignons and serve them with different steak butters – like roasted garlic, tomato chipotle or Tuscan herb flavors.

Everyone can choose their favorite taste!

Filet with Finishing Salt

Another delicious complement is a nice finishing salt.

Now, when my dad taught me how to grill a steak, he never said anything about finishing salts. But sprinkling on a salt flavored with rosemary or garlic gives your steak an edge that kicks your grillmaster status up a notch or two.

Filet Mignon with Sauce

Then, there’s the almighty steak sauce. A perfectly blended steak sauce brings out the richness in your steaks and makes sure it’s a steak you’ll remember.

These are my favorite complements for steak. What are yours?

Beef Soup Recipe

Beef Soup Recipe

My toes are perpetually frozen this time of year. So a hearty, beefy soup makes perfect sense right now.

I need a meal that’ll thaw me out!

This Beef and Vegetable Soup recipe uses bite-sized beef tenderloin tips made from Filet Mignon and it really does the trick.

Ingredients:
1 lb. package Beef Tenderloin Tips, minced
2 onions, minced
2 carrots, minced
3 celery stalks, minced
2 cups, diced tomatoes
1 cup barley
1/2 cup lentils
6 cups beef stock
1 tbsp. oil
salt and pepper

Directions: Sear Beef Tenderloin Tips in oil and remove from pan. Add carrot, celery and onion and sweat. Add barley and cook for three minutes. Add tomato and beef stock and bring to a simmer, cook for 30 minutes and add lentils. Continue to simmer for another 10 and add reserved beef. Cook for 10 minutes, season to taste and serve.

Servings: 8

A soup that includes bites of steak? Yes, please! This one’s a winner!

Winter Favorites

Winter Favorites

Wintertime is good eating time!

It’s a great time to enjoy savory tastes and satisfying meals. But winter food is different than light, summertime fare. Cold weather food is hearty and filling. It keeps you warm!

These are my winter favorites. They help me get through a cold, hard winter!

  1. Prime Rib Roast. Hearty, delicious and there’s always enough!
  2. Beef Wellington. This one really hits the spot with its flaky crust and tender beef inside.
  3. Filet Mignon. Admittedly, they’re great any time of the year, but I like to add a beefy gravy to my steaks in the winter.
  4. Beef Brisket. This meal may bring to mind summertime barbecues in the backyard, but don’t underestimate its ability to satisfy on a chilly evening around the fire!

What are your winter favorites? I’m getting hungry just thinking about them!
