Tailgating Hacks

Are you a heavy-duty tailgater?

Then you probably have this tailgating thing down!

For the rest of us non-professionals, some tailgating hacks might be useful before heading out to cheer on your team – and eat like a champ!

Tip #1 – Prepare as much food as you can beforehand. You don’t want to spend ALL your tailgate time working away over a hot propane stove.

Tip #2 – Keep it simple. Do you really want a four-course meal with dijonnaise sauce and delicate fritters? No! You’re out in a parking lot for goodness’ sake. Try brisket. Ribs. Burgers. Steak. Bite-sized appetizers.

Barbecue Ribs

Tip #3 – Never, ever run out of food. We don’t want a brawl on our hands. Those fans get hungry!

Tip #4 – Since you will be following tip #3, make sure to bring a cooler specifically for leftovers. Tailgate food is great even the next day! But you have to store it properly so it will keep.

Tip #5 – Don’t make it so complicated that you won’t have time to have fun yourself. Try sides – and even meals – you can just heat and eat.

Have fun cheering on your team at your next tailgate party. And eat a rib for me!

Fall flavors are upon us!

Colorful spinach and kale are especially delicious at this time of year.

Know what’s delicious all year long?

Of course, you guessed it — steak!

And steak with spinach and/or kale is a bountiful autumnal treat.

Pair the creamed spinach dish above with any steak (may I suggest a ribeye?) and you’ll find yourself in dinnertime nirvana.

Or try this squash and kale salad with mustard vinaigrette recipe. Add some flank steak or petite diced sirloin on top and you’ve got yourself a MEAL!

Gorgeous autumn dishes are not to be missed so experiment with your own combinations of fall flavors, colors and textures. This season is the perfect setting for satisfying, beautiful meals!

Fall Ingredients – Best Mushrooms for Steak

TBone_2012_lrg

Beautiful fall! It’s here and it’s time to take advantage of all of fall’s bounty.

Mushrooms are a great start! So what are the best mushrooms to accompany a beautiful steak?

Shiitake. Served with flank steak, their smoky taste really enhances the flavor in the beef.

Portobello. This is a very common steak accompaniment because they have a very similar taste to steak. A top sirloin steak is perfect prepared in a skillet with the mushrooms.

Oyster mushrooms. These mushrooms are a wonderful addition to a pepper steak dish. They’re very peppery and add delicious flavor.

The time is right so have fun playing with your own version of mushrooms and steak this fall!
